Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated during August or September. It marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom and remover of all obstacles according to Hindu mythology. The festival is marked with installation of Ganesha clay idols in homes, where prayers are performed everyday. The event ends with the Ganesh Visarjan whereby devotees immerse idol of Lord Ganesh in water after a gala street procession.
